I was feeling down so I decided to take a 20 minute drive to the beach and try to catch the sunset again. I managed a series of 30 second long exposures since I now have 2 ND8s in my bag. Stacking the ND8s produces a purple cast but that can be corrected in Post Processing as I shoot in RAW. I did a two-step correction. The first in ACR and then Auto Color Correction in PSE8. The correction was pretty spot on as I had a few shots taken without the filters for comparison. Choosing one to post here was quite difficult as they were all nice in their own way. Even though just minutes apart, those minutes make a world of a difference in colors and hues. I chose this as this was the closest to the end of the sunset without losing the mix of colors.
The title of this picture has to do with my feeling and thoughts as I sat there watching the sunset. My thoughts were... TWILIGHT... to most that would relate to Stephenie Meyer as Eclipse opens in cinemas in just a few days time. For me it was the lyrics... When the twilight is gone... that's the opening line to the song 'My Prayer' by the Platters. It then reminded me of my late father, may his soul rest in peace.... it's been 2 years and 1 week... and my mom has been calling me daily for the past one week... so she must be feeling it too. Tears ran down my cheeks as I hummed the song in my head... memories of how we used to sing together to these songs... from 8-track cartridges to records to cassettes and CDs.

My Prayer - The Platters
When the twilight is gone and no songbirds are singing
When the twilight is gone you come into my heart
And here in my heart you will stay while I pray
My prayer is to linger with you
At the end of the day in a dream that's divine
My prayer is a rapture in blue
With the world far away and your lips close to mine
Tonight while our hearts are aglow
Oh tell me the words that I'm longing to know
My prayer and the answer you give
May they still be the same for as long as we live
That you'll always be there at the end of my prayer
