The Northerners have their slang just like the Easterners and Southerners. Here they tend to add the word noh? at the end of the sentence which is akin to us adding ok? or ya? at the end of our sentence, seeking for approval. Example... I'll wait for you here, ok?... Saya tunggu awak kat sini, ya? Saya tunggu hang kat sini noh? Something like that lah... betul ke Aidy?
Here, whatever that ends with an R ends up being pronounced with a K... cucur becomes cucuk... nyiur becomes nyiuk... and so forth... then there is the L... whatever that end with an L is pronounced with an I... pasal becomes pasai... mahal becomes mahai... etc.
Here in Langkawi, everything is expensive with the exception of booze, cigarettes and imported cars... so, really... Langkawi Mahai, pun fully intended!
For those who don't know or pretend not to know... ma-hai is a Cantonese swear word... literally translated is Mother's Cunt.
we use a lot of NO also at the end of our sentence - I got influenced by the French... they use it alot... no?
