Today, I came across a hurdle... literally... here I am driving on the path to go to the resort when suddenly in front of me, the road was being sealed off... the neighbour was erecting a fence, sealing off the entrance. I got off the car and asked the guy why was he putting the fence up? He says that it was their land and that apparently they had given 'someone' two weeks notice to build a proper road and such but since nothing was done they were sealing the place off. If I wanted to, I would have to speak to their boss... forgot the name... TNB guy... the adjoining land belongs to TNB.
So, I call my boss and explain the whole scenario. I am assigned to take pictures with "my fancy camera" as per my boss. So I do as I am told. Apparently, there is a dispute as to whom that small piece of land belongs to. TNB seems to think it belongs to them. My owners claim that it is the government's land therefore they have the right of way and TNB was doing something illegal... well, not TNB per se but their representatives. So, now we have to do a land search and then get the surveyors in to ascertain for sure what belongs to whom before we can plan our next move.
This is the second dispute we've had... to do with land... the first was with an alternative entrance which suddenly saw a mini village emerge out of nowhere. Talking to a few locals, I found out that this was one of the modus operandis of the locals. Apparently they do this quite often... allow you to do your construction ... then at the eleventh hour, when you are 80% complete, they build things around you even when it is on government land. It seems the local law is that if you want to move them you have to relocate them and pay some kind of relocation fee.
Are you thinking what I am thinking? Let's verify this so-called law first... if it is true then let us all go find out where there are projects being built in the next five years. Then we all go build small little huts around their planned roads and what not... then we just sit back and wait for compensations.
What a life!
