One Month

This is the view from my would be room when the resort opens... this was taken with my crappy phone's camera... the DSLR is too much to lug around when you're 'handicapped'... The time was approximately 5:45pm when this was snapped. And you can see that the sun is still pretty high up the horizon. Sunsets are beautiful at this side of the island and this is a plus point for me. The island is therapeutic... the beautiful emerald sea... very therapeutic... especially up North.

I've been with the new job for a month now and it has been two weeks now on the island. What have I accomplished? Hmmm... nothing... I'm still the only employee thus far... I've received over 150 applications for 5 positions but less than 10% is worth considering. I've interviewed one on Tuesday... I have another interview next Tuesday. It's not easy working ALONE... especially when people don't seem interested to do business with you... you're the customer but is it YOU who have to keep calling them to follow up and even then it takes ages and some never get back to you. Annoying... damn annoying...

Hopefully next week things will move along faster. I'll probably end putting an ad in the Star next week. I need a HR desperately so I can start to focus on other things... I have a few candidates but they're all not from hospitality so I have my reservations on hiring them... but I will interview nevertheless.

Sigh...What's the Malay saying? Biar susah dulu senang kemudian? I hope so...
